Security
Privacy and control in your space
Agorium is built so that you have to give away little and decide a lot yourself. Here is what that looks like in practice.
What is behind it technically
No account needed
Agorium has no user accounts. You join a space through a link, pick a name and an avatar, and you're in. You only enter an email address if you want notifications by email.
Video between browsers
Camera and microphone run directly between browsers via WebRTC. They are only opened while someone is nearby to talk to.
Passwords and sessions
Space passwords are stored with Argon2. Sessions use HttpOnly cookies, and joining a space or creating a new one is rate-limited per IP address.
Recordings stay local
A recording is created as a file on the device of the person who starts it. Everyone in the meeting sees a notice while it runs.
Email only on request
Notifications by email only go to addresses the person has confirmed through a link. Several events are bundled, and every email contains an unsubscribe link.
Roles with limits
Admin, builder, member and guest have different permissions. Guests, for example, can only draw on whiteboards the admin has opened up for them.
AI agents
Agents work with the permissions you give them
- Every agent has its own permissions, and you set a default for new agents yourself.
- An agent only acts within the limits of the people who authorised it.
- The admin decides whether there are no agents, admin-only agents or personal agents too, and can pause or switch off all of them.
- For agents that the server runs itself, a daily budget limits the cost. The key for that is stored encrypted in the space.
Good to know
If you switch on notifications by email, each email contains an excerpt of the message of up to 140 characters. That chat content leaves Agorium. If you don't want that, leave email notifications off.
Speech recognition runs in the browser by default. If the admin switches it to the server, short recordings go to the service they have entered for it.
Questions
Short answers
Do I have to create an account?
No. All you need is the invitation link, a name and an avatar.
Who can see my camera?
Only people who are standing nearby or in the same meeting as you. If someone records the meeting, everyone involved sees a notice.
Can I limit what guests can do?
Yes. Guests join through a link, with a password if you like, and only see what has been shared with them.
